The Hearing Evaluation Process
We specialize in improving lifestyles of the hard of hearing and their families with the help of amplification and counseling. We understand the importance of better hearing and realize the frustrations this may bring to an individual and also the entire family. Here is what to expect when scheduling a hearing evaluation with one of our professionals.
Step One
Your first step is to call and set up an appointment with one of our specialists. Appointments usually last about 60 to 90 minutes and include the initial hearing test, consultation regarding your personal hearing condition, and recommendations as to how amplification with hearing instruments may benefit you.
Step Two
Upon a decision regarding what type of help you may wish to try, impressions of your ears will be taken. This is a painless process and takes only a few minutes. Since all ears have different shapes, it is necessary we achieve this precise fitting for your ear. Your hearing aids cannot be used by anyone other than yourself, making them truly customized for you.
Step Three
Your new hearing instruments will be ordered. Processing of the instruments usually takes about 7-10 days. Upon our receiving the hearing aids from the lab, we will contact you to schedule an appointment for your initial fitting. This appointment generally takes around an hour and introduces you to your new world of sound.
Step Four
Upon leaving our office following your initial fitting, you will be aware of sounds you havent heard in some time. Amplification will open up a whole new world of sounds you may have forgotten. Adapting to these new sounds takes time. Some sounds may even initially be distracting to you. Pay special attention to sounds you like and sounds you dislike. Adjustments can be made at follow-up appointments if necessary as time progresses and these new sounds become more familiar.
Step Five
Schedule a follow-up appointment. This is the time for you to share with us how your new experience is progressing. Once again, we realize the importance of hearing, and will work with you to make any difficulties better. You are provided a minimum of a 30 day trial period. Your fitting and check-up appointments are all free of charge during this trial period.
Step Six
At the end of your trial period, a decision is needed regarding keeping your new instruments or not. If you feel for some reason they are not helping you satisfactorily, we may be able to try something else. We may even suggest waiting a period of time and trying again. You are welcome to return your aids without cost. If you do choose to keep them, we offer several different payment options to cater to your financial needs.
Ongoing Care
All of this simply begins our journey together. Your continued hearing and hearing instrument care is an ongoing process. Follow-up services and check-ups will be necessary as time goes on. We are here to continue to serve you and make this journey a positive, ongoing experience
